Ram Mohammad Thomas one night was suddenly arrested, he did not even make a attempt to resist the police officers. In the interrogation room, he finds out that the game he has recently won Who Will Win a Billion (W3B) is the reason for his arrest, being framed by that game company of cheating to avoid their payment to him. They producers of the game, Neil Johnson and Billy Nanda have no proof that he lied other than the fact that he has no education background. They made a alliance with the Inspector, Godbole, get a answer out of him how he knew all the answers tot he game show. Godbole used brute beatings on Ram in order to get an answer, but Ram only says its by "luck" and he just "knew the answers". Just when Golebole was going to get Ram to sign a confession statement, a lady named Smita Shah intervienes. She turns out to be Ram's Lawyer, and stoped the tutoring of Godbole saying how it is "completely illegal and unacceptable" breaking several articles and sections. Smita takes Ram home, provides him with food, and then lets Ram tell her his story of how he knew all the answers.
Ram tells Smita how he knew the answer to the first question "Can you name the blockbusting flim in which Armaan Ali starred with Priya Kapoor for the very first time?" was D. Betrayel. Ram's best friend, Salim, had a deep obsession about Armaan from the point of having a room full of Armaan Posters to buying all false tabloids about Armaan just so no one would read lies about him. Since Ram is Samlim's best friend, they would go to all the Armaan movies together. Although what made Betrayel really rememorible six years ago, an old man sexually assulted Salim during the movie at his leg/croach area, that disgusting moment was never forgotten by Ram.
Ram tells Smita how he knew the answer to the second question "What is the sequence of letters normally inscribed on a cross?" The oringal question was suppose to be what does FBI stands for, but the Prem Kumar (game host) did not think he will last very long so he gave him a question he knew. Ram knew the answer to the question was B. I N R I actually from his childhood. After when he was born, his mother left his on the steps of an orphanage just with some clothes. He was not adpoted for a few years, although one couple eventually did because their Priest said it would be good for them. Although Ram's foster mother eventually left his foster dad and went with another man. Ram's foster father was extremely mad and blamed it on Ram, giving it to the Priest saying he's the reason they even adpoted the child. Since the Priest raised Ram, of course he knew a lot about religon, and the Priest was basically like a father to him. Ram never forgot the Christian ways the Priest taught him, espically after he died by gun shots.
Ram tells Smita how he knew the answer to the third question "Which is the smallest planent in our solar system?" Prem Kumar puposely asked a "hard" question to get him kicked off of the show because they had a math teacher on stand-by waiting to play 3WB. Ram knew the answer was A. Pluto because of the recent neighbor that moved into his chawl, his name is Shantaram and he is a scientist and an astronomer. During the night, Ram and Salim would put their ears agasint the wall and easedrop on their convosations that Shantaram would tell his daughter, Gudiya. The walls were really thin, so all Ram and his bestfriend would do is put their ear agasint the wall and listen about space, specicically planets like Pluto. Ram never forgot about this because other days he would hear Shantaram rape Gudiya, and actually Shantaram killed him for those wrong doings, by pushing him over a balconey, and then ran away.
Quote: "All those who came to Mass on Sunday mornings would call him Father, and it intrigued me that I had so many brothers and sisters." (Swarup 41)
Reaction:
Haha, that line really made me laugh hard, showing how naive Ram was at such a young age. When I was younger, I never understood why everyone called everyone brother or sister but I never actually thought that everyone was related. Although Ram adpoted father is Priest Timothy, so that is probably why he would think something like that. During this time, Ram thinks that the Priest is actually his biological father, which also is probably why he would think something like th at as well.

do you enjoy the plotting, going backwards in time to unravel how Ram knows the answers to these questions?
