Summary:
Mole, pronouched mo'-lay, may not sound too tasty but it sure is interesting, its chocolate on chicken. It is a Mexican cuisine, and even though it is the name for such an unique meal, its name actually means thick sause. It can take days to make this, and it requires a lot of help, so it is a great thing to make with the family. There are so many things to do such as "soak, pounds, chop, roast, or stir gently atop an ouitdoor charcoal stove". Mole was famous amoung the Aztecs, but also the Oaxaxa, that is why Oaxaca is the "real chocolate heart of Mexico.
Mexico was the place that first truly loved chocolate, they held on to it for four millennia of evolution, which is about 4,000 years. Unlike the United States, chocolate was only manufactered in 1765, thats no where near compared to Mexicos 4,000 years. Therefore, our chocolate is not as good, for example Hersexy's chocoate taste "like sugared wax, the end result of monster mass production with all corners cut". Ouch. But it is not like Heresy is the wrost chocolate, because about after a cencury, Milton S. Hershey got the nation hooked on chocoalte.
Milton did not actually started off as a chocolate maker, ge was actually a printer apprentice but disliked it very much. Eventually, he opened his own little business though, a candy show, off of the money lended by his aunt and father. Although business was not doing to well, and he was losing a lot of moneym so he decided to move on and start a caramel factor in Lancaster. And through series of loans, he company kept on going growing until the Herseys that we have today.
Quote: "We put a lot of sock in the ahh factor" (Rosenblum 206).
Reaction:
So Rosenblum was interviewing a guy named Eugene Dunkin, and apprently is the "chief executive officer of Godiva in North America and former head of European operations". If you did not know, Godvia is basically like gourmet chocolate, and Dunkin basically runs it in the United States. So during the interview, Dunkin responds to Rosenblum by saying the quote above, which I dont nessarily agree with. I dont think I have tasted Godiva before, but I am pretty sure that know says "ahh" after eating some chocolate. I understand "ummm" or "yum" but ahh? Ahh sounds like something out of a horror movie, or even during a massage. But for chocolate, sorry I do not think so :(
